Rabbids Go Home DS - They're Back and Crazier than Ever

You might remember these insane balls of fluff from Rayman's Raving Rabbids (Wii/DS). However, Rayman is absent from this game, allowing the Rabbids to take centre stage in all their demented glory. It's a well designed 3D platform game that mixes collection quest and racer seamlessly with entertaining and hilarious results.

So, the Rabbids want to go home. To the moon. So they decide to search for whatever items tickle their fancy and create a messily constructed tower to reach their destination. You play as a charming trio of Rabbids, one pushing a shopping cart, one inside the shopping cart, and one tangled inside the innards of your DS console.

Rabbids Go Home (DS) has that same stylized feel that Rayman's Raving Rabbids possessed, a strange conglomeration of art deco and a five year old's imagination. The locations that the Rabbids scavenge through are painfully dull, from airports to factories, which makes the colourfully mad antics of the creatures all the more bright and amusing. The soundtrack to the game is brilliant as well, adding a nice layer of context in whatever location you find yourself barrelling through.  The Rabbids themselves are particularly fond of jazz, with over the top trumpets and drums that are completely in character with the colourful insanity of these deranged critters.

There are some drawbacks. The game uses a fixed camera that may cause some problems, though overall it works fine. Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS loading times can reach upwards to 15 seconds between levels, masked by a sequence showing the Rabbids sliding through a sewer system.  Above all, the game thoroughly lacks a creative plot.  However, if you were looking for a game with a rich and complex storyline, this game should have never caught your eye to begin with. On the contrary, Rabbids Go Home revels in its lack of plot with aplomb and hilarious antics that makes you forget you wanted a plot to begin with.

This is not a Raving Rabbids sequel, but a horse of a completely nonsensical colour. It allows the Rabbids to shine as wonderfully demented as possible with entertaining and amusing results. The gameplay is engaging, the story nonexistent, and overall, the experience is similar to the Rabbids themselves: complete and utter fun filled lunacy that you don't want to miss out on. by Lauren
