Nintendo has confirmed a larger screen DSi console is coming to the UK in 2010. The new Nintendo DSi XL will cost around £149. The DSi XL features bigger 4.2 inch screens and has a new longer stylus pen, called XL Touch Pen. DSi XL comes pre-loaded with three games: DSiWare Brain Training 1 & 2, plus a Dictionary DSiWare App. DSi XL promises to bring multi-player gaming for two on one console. Hence the screen size has been upped to by 3cm, making the XL 100 grams heavier. The new XL touch pen resembles a ball-point pen which no longer slots into the consoles case as it did on the DS/DS Lite and DSi consoles.

As you can see there’s a big difference in size between the DSi on top of DSi XL. DSi XL looks a lot less portable, if you want pocket gaming, buy a DSi. The maroon colour (Wine Red) was the other surprise. The release date for the White DSi XL is unconfirmed, although the Dark Brown DSi XL and Wine Red DSi XL can be pre-ordered today for release day on 05/03/2010. Incidentally, the XL is not a replacement for the Nintendo DSi.
