Cooking Mama World: Hobbies and Fun (Nintendo DS)
Cooking Mama is a cooking game that offers a player a chance to create 76 different recipes with the help of a chef named cooking mama. Once the recipe has been made, Cooking Mama rates how well the player has done in making different parts of the dish and the efficiency with which the whole thing has been brought together.
The player goes through the whole game performing several different chores such as chopping, pouring, slicing, boiling, frying, grating every ingredient, and cooking all of them in the right way. The instructions of making the recipe are simple and easy to understand. The participant performs all the actions using the DS Stylus – by moving it up and down and dragging it back and forth.
The structure of the game is essentially picking a recipe from a selection, practicing how to make it, making it correctly, and then being graded by Cooking Mama.
Cooking Mama is a very vibrant game filled with color. It suits people of every age. There are a plethora of recipes which can be completed within a few minutes using the stylus. Moreover, with the launch of Cooking Mama 2, the game has seen several additions.
There are basically two main modes offered in this game, cooking with Mama or going Solo. In the former mode, the player is offered clear instructions for every recipe. In the latter, the participant does not get Mama's assistance along the way and has to cook on his or her own.
Contest Mode and Multiplayer Facility
An added feature of this game is the contest mode where the player is given several challenges to complete. These challenges include watching how quickly the participant can complete the recipe. There is also a multiplayer element where competitors take part in challenges by competing with one another. The USP is that the player requires just one copy of a cartridge to play with up to three friends.
Overall, it's a fun game to play as the controls are very easy to use. Both the versions are equally interesting and offer constructive learning.
