Gears of War 2 Review
Alex Shaw 23-10-2009 15:02:28
Gears of War 2 is the second in the series of the Gears of War franchise. Its use of adept and strategic covering systems gives a whole new level of combat to the game, along with the 3rd person style and shooting system in which the game revolves around, makes it an intense shooter. Its predecessor, Gears of War, is a tiny game compared to the vast new levels and new arsenal of weaponry in Gears of War 2, with entirely new environments, weapons and enemies to master and defeat. The campaign mode of this game will take you through hours of tough levels and situations where you will have to fight your way out, defeating thousands of locust enemies in order to save Sera, their home planet. Along with the campaign mode, there are several multiplayer modes where you can face off against the world, and team up with friends to work your way through the ranks, or just play for fun. The multiplayer modes include a new setting not found in Gears of War, called Horde, where you and up to 4 others have to fend off wave upon wave of Locust enemies, in an attempt at survival. If you like a good shooter, this is the game for you, with difficulty settings ranging from casual, for those new to the game, to insane for those who wish to test their skills.
Project Natal
George Bateman 12-10-2009 14:25:10
Gaming has come a long way since the very first ‘home console’ was introduced in the 1970’s. Since then, technological advancements have allowed gaming to reach new height after new height, bringing advancements in graphics, playability and interactivity to give you a mind-blowing experience with each new aspect. Possibly the two greatest advancements of our generation was the introduction of online gaming against friends and the Wii’s motion sensing peripherals to bring a whole new level of interaction to the user. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Microsoft X-Box have taken those technologies, combined and bettered them and recently unveiled Project Natal.
Project Natal is a whole new world of technology that seems years ahead of its time. Think ‘Minority Report’. No wires and no controllers; just you and your body is all that you’ll need to use this revolutionary form of gaming hardware. YOU are the controller.
The Natal works by using full skeletal mapping, 3D and motion capture software to create a 3D mirror image of the user. In essence, you become the lead character of the game. You will even be able to use your own gear. A simple ‘scan’ command, and the Natal will scan what you are holding, it will then re-create that in virtual form for use within a game! Neat, huh?
Voice commanded software has been around for a while but this is the first time it will come as standard to a gaming device. Want to play Call of Duty? Simply say ‘Play Game’. Want to watch the movie you’ve selected? Simply say ‘Play movie’. Want to chat with your friend, Dave? Simply say ‘Chat to Dave’.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Natal will be comfortable with facial recognition - it will know who you are and it will load your account and avatar without any prompting. If you don’t have an account, the Natal will scan your hair and body, recognise what gender you are and load the relevant sexed avatar for you to use.
You will be able to navigate menus with a flick of the wrist and play games which will involve the whole family.
Microsoft have not given out a release date just yet, however, working prototypes have been unveiled and tested at gaming conventions such as E3, giving us a tantalising look into what the coming years may hold. Gaming is about to be revolutionised
XBox Avatars - Avatar Creation

Xbox Avatars are the latest NEW feature to Xbox 360 consoles. The major update includes a brand new style dashboard - similar to Windows Vista. When you install the update you are prompted to create an avatar upon signing in. First, you choose your Avatar from a series of random models. You can modify it at any time. If you want to tweak your Avatar, simply go to My Xbox channel and select "Customize Avatar." There you will find five options: "Change My Features," "Change My Clothes," "Gamer Picture," "Start Over" and "Save and Exit".

I thought the Elite was meant to put the Xbox onto a par with a PS3, but no. You still need to buy an add-on HD-DVD drive to play hi-def movies. You also need to pay a monthly subscription to use online gaming which is free from Sony. The Xbox elite controllers are not even motion sensitive. I was given one of these and i was hoping it was going to be better than my normal 360. But there is no difference, just hard drive space that is it. The picture quality is no better. So you might as well just buy the normal 360 instead of paying extra, because really they are just the same, but black.

@Dean Harrison: You obviously havent heard about the Xbox Channel. The software giant Microsoft is in deliberation with the BBC to provide digital Tv and Video broadcasting services in the UK.
The 'Xbox channel' will allow users to download TV shows, music movies and video content from the internet onto their Xbox360 console. Newer Xbox 360 consoles have a built in HDMI port for HDTV (1080p). So don't say it's the same, its not. It has been upgraded for the digital revolution. HDMI is fantastic you really notice the improvement in sound and graphics. 10-09-2007 20:06:53
