A fresh new twist. Batman has captured The Joker and sent him back to Arkham Asylum. Soon after The Joker has other plans and sets-a-trap for Batman with his team of nutty inmates who break free! The Asylum goes into lockdown. Batman must now use stealth, and all his combat skills and bat-gadgets to recapture The Joker and fight inmates. Set on an Island, most of gameplay is inside the Asylum, possibly the last place on earth Batman wants to be trapped. Being free to discover the whole Island (which is well sized), you face a variety of specific level techniques to complete in the medical wing, the penitentiary section, the main mansion... each having a fascinating story to add to Rocksteadys' well designed gameplay.
Controlling Batman can take a while to master; rapid button bashing gets the job done. Pulling a few easy preset combos does better damage and is positively rewarding. Using a Batarang does minimal damage to supervilians. Detective mode instantly echos Batmans' 3rd-person-view from normal to ultrasonic-CSI view. Meanwhile your best tactics are gained from his ability to disappear in the shadows of this perfect arena. Arkham has plenty of dark lit levels in which Batman traverses silently.
